Vista Security Tool 2010

This is a VERY bad trojan that can attack your computer with no warning and no popup, especially in Windows XP and with Vista where UAC (User Access Control - get to it by going to Control Panel -> User Accounts-> Turn User Account Control On or Off) is turned off, which also turns off IE's protected mode (since that mode can't run unless UAC is turned on)

The trojan makes several changes to your computer: attempting to open IE or Firefox will open the malware instead. When you try to open other programs, you will just get an error that you need a program to open them; System Restore is also affected.

You can remove the malware after stopping the av.exe process, but the malware makes many other changes to the registry that are not easily reversed. Many programs will not run and a System Restore will be necessary. However, this will be difficult (since the malware blocks access to the program).

If you get infected with this or any other trojan and need help, feel free to email us. In the meantime, try to avoid turning UAC off, and it is a good idea to use IE in protected mode in Vista - it could save you a call to your computer repair guy!
